πŸ“ Instructions

8 steps
1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

2

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

3

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant.

4

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for another minute to deepen the flavor.

5

Add the crushed tomatoes, chicken or seafood broth, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir well to combine and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.

6

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat them in the sauce. Let the shrimp warm through for 1-2 minutes.

7

Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine with the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add the reserved pasta cooking water a few tablespoons at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

8

Serve the spicy pasta and shrimp immediately, garnished with chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
