Wash all the vegetables thoroughly under running water.
Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets, peel and thinly slice the carrot, and chop the zucchini into half-inch pieces.
Set up a steaming basket or a steamer insert in a medium-sized pot. Add about 1-2 inches of water to the bottom of the pot, making sure the water does not touch the steamer basket.
Place the broccoli, carrot, and zucchini in the steamer basket. Cover the pot with a lid and bring the water to a boil over high heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and steam the vegetables for 8-10 minutes, or until they are tender but still have a slight crunch (fork-tender).
While the vegetables are steaming, mince the garlic cloves and set them aside.
Once the vegetables are cooked, carefully remove the steamer basket from the pot and transfer the vegetables to a serving bowl.
Sprinkle the minced garlic, salt, and black pepper over the steamed vegetables. Toss gently to combine. If desired, drizzle with olive oil for added flavor.
Serve warm as a nutritious side dish or light main course. Enjoy!
