📝 Instructions

7 steps
1

Place a whole pomegranate on a clean cutting board. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut off about 1/2 inch from the crown (top) of the pomegranate to expose the seeds inside.

2

Examine the exposed surface. You will notice several white membrane lines running vertically down the fruit, dividing it into sections (like citrus wedges). Use the tip of your knife to score a shallow cut along each membrane line, from the top to the bottom of the fruit.

3

Hold the pomegranate firmly in your hands and gently pull it apart into sections along the score lines. The fruit should open easily into natural wedges, revealing the seeds inside.

4

Fill a large mixing bowl with cold water and submerge a pomegranate section in it. Using your fingers, gently separate the seeds (arils) from the white membrane. The seeds will sink to the bottom of the bowl while the membrane will float to the top.

5

Repeat step 4 with the remaining pomegranate sections until all seeds are removed. Skim off the floating membrane pieces and discard them.

6

Strain the seeds through a fine mesh sieve or colander to remove the water. Pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel if desired.

7

Your pomegranate seeds are now ready to use! Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
