Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente.
Two minutes before the pasta is done, add the frozen peas to the boiling water with the pasta.
Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta and peas in a colander.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, making sure it doesnβt burn.
Add the cooked pasta and peas to the skillet. Toss to coat them in the garlic-butter mixture.
Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, reserved pasta water, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper. Mix until everything is well combined and the sauce has coated the pasta evenly.
Remove the skillet from the heat and gently stir in the fresh mint leaves.
Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper, if needed.
Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
