Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 0.5 cups fresh orange juice
  • 0.5 cups whole milk
  • 0.25 cups unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups light brown sugar
  • 0.25 cups all-purpose flour (for streusel)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease it.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and orange zest.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, whisk together the orange juice, milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 4

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing; the batter should be lumpy.

Step 5

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.

Step 6

To make the streusel, combine the brown sugar, flour, cold butter, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 7

Sprinkle the streusel evenly over the muffin batter in each cup.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 16–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Step 9

Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your Orange Streusel Muffins with coffee or tea!
