πŸ“ Instructions

11 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, and salt. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and rub into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

3

Gradually add cold water, mixing with a fork until the dough starts to come together. Form the mixture into a ball, wrap it in cling film, and refrigerate for 15 minutes to allow it to firm up.

4

While the dough is chilling, prepare the sesame filling. In a small food processor, grind the black sesame seeds until finely ground.

5

In a medium bowl, mix the ground sesame seeds with honey, sesame oil, and vanilla extract until a smooth paste forms.

6

Once the dough has chilled, roll it out on a floured surface to a thickness of about 3mm (1/8 inch). Cut the dough into roughly 10x10cm (4x4 inch) squares.

7

Place a teaspoon of sesame filling in the center of each square. Fold the dough over the filling to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal it tightly.

8

Place each pastry on the prepared baking tray. Beat the egg and brush the top of each pastry with the egg wash.

9

Sprinkle with extra black sesame seeds for garnish.

10

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown and crisp.

11

Allow the pastries to cool on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy these nut-free sesame pastries warm or at room temperature.
