📝 Instructions

11 steps
1

Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and allow them to splutter.

2

Add 1 large finely chopped onion to the pan and sauté until golden brown.

3

Stir in 1 teaspoon each of ginger paste and garlic paste, and 1 finely chopped green chili. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the raw aroma disappears.

4

Add the pureed tomatoes from 3 medium tomatoes to the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the oil starts to separate from the masala.

5

Mix in 0.5 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 0.5 teaspoon of red chili powder, 1 teaspoon of coriander powder, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Cook the spices for 2 minutes.

6

Add 1 cup of green peas to the masala and 1 cup of water. Stir well and bring to a boil.

7

Cut the paneer into cubes and add it to the pan. Gently stir to combine everything.

8

Cover the pan and simmer the curry for 10 minutes on medium-low heat to allow the flavors to meld.

9

Stir in 2 tablespoons of fresh cream and 0.5 teaspoon of garam masala. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

10

Turn off the heat and garnish with 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh coriander leaves.

11

Serve the hot matar paneer with steamed rice or Indian breads like roti or naan.
