πŸ“ Instructions

12 steps
1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, yeast, caster sugar, and salt. Stir the ingredients together thoroughly.

2

Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix with your hands or a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.

3

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5-6 minutes.

4

Shape the kneaded dough into a ball, place it in an oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

5

Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it into a large rectangle approximately 1 cm thick.

6

Spread the Marmite evenly over the surface of the dough using a spoon or spatula, leaving a 1-cm border around the edges.

7

Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese evenly over the Marmite layer.

8

Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to the other, like a Swiss roll. Pinch the seam to seal and tuck the ends under to create a loaf shape.

9

Place the rolled loaf seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a greased loaf tin. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and allow to rise for another 30-40 minutes, or until puffy.

10

Preheat your oven to 200Β°C (400Β°F). Just before baking, brush the loaf lightly with milk to encourage browning.

11

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

12

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly on a wire rack before slicing and serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
