- 1 box Boxed cake mix (chocolate)
- 1 box Boxed cake mix (white or yellow)
- 2 packages Instant vanilla pudding mix
- 4 cups Milk
- 1 package Vanilla sandwich cookies
- 6 drops Green food coloring
- 10 Tootsie Rolls
- 1 New, clean litter box
- 1 New, clean litter scoop
Instructions
Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the boxed cake mix instructions.
Grease and prepare two 9x13 inch baking pans for both the chocolate and white/yellow cake mixes.
Prepare each cake mix according to the package instructions, then bake them in the preheated oven. Once baked, allow the cakes to cool completely.
While the cakes are cooling, prepare the instant vanilla pudding according to the package instructions using 4 cups of milk. Chill the pudding in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Place the vanilla sandwich cookies in a food processor and pulse until crushed into fine crumbs. Transfer all but about 1/4 cup of the crushed cookies to a mixing bowl.
Tint the reserved 1/4 cup of crushed cookies with 6 drops of green food coloring. Mix well to achieve an even green hue. Set aside.
Crumble the cooled cakes into small chunks in a large mixing bowl. For a realistic look, keep the chunks slightly uneven in size.
In a large, clean litter box, layer some crumbled cake, followed by vanilla pudding, then a layer of the crushed vanilla cookies. Repeat the layers, ending with a final layer of crushed cookies on top.
Sprinkle the green-tinted cookie crumbs over the top to create the appearance of flecks of 'odor-absorbing crystals' often seen in cat litter.
