📝 Instructions

9 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2

In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set it aside on a paper towel-lined plate. Discard all but 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease from the skillet.

3

Using the same skillet with reserved grease, sauté the diced onion over medium heat until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, until fragrant.

4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned baked beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir well to incorporate.

5

Add the sautéed onions and garlic into the bowl with the beans mixture. Crumble the cooked bacon and stir half of it into the bean mixture, reserving the other half for topping.

6

Pour the bean mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish or large oven-safe casserole dish. Spread it evenly with a spatula. Sprinkle the reserved crumbled bacon on top.

7

Bake the beans in the preheated oven, uncovered, for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbling and slightly caramelized on the edges.

8

Remove from the oven and let the beans rest for 10 minutes before serving.

9

Serve the baked beans warm as a side dish and enjoy!
