Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
Remove the giblets from the chicken cavity, rinse the chicken inside and out under cold running water, and pat it dry with paper towels.
Rub the chicken all over with olive oil, ensuring an even coat. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and dried thyme evenly over the skin and inside the cavity.
Open the can of beer and pour out (or drink!) about half of the liquid, leaving the can half-full. Add the minced garlic to the beer can.
Carefully lower the seasoned chicken onto the open beer can so the can fits snugly into the cavity. The chicken should sit upright, supported by its legs and the can as a stable base.
Place the chicken and beer can combination upright in a roasting pan. Ensure the chicken is stable and balanced.
Roast the chicken in the preheated oven for 75 to 90 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the chicken (thigh) reaches 165Β°F (74Β°C).
Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carefully removing it from the beer can. Use tongs and oven mitts for safety as the can and liquid will be very hot.
Carve and serve your oven-roasted beer can chicken with your choice of side dishes. Enjoy!
