Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the rest and set aside.

While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips and sprinkle them evenly with salt and black pepper.
