Ready in just an hour, this elegant treat is ideal for gatherings, special occasions, or as a refined everyday dessert. Whether you're catering to a dairy-free diet or simply looking for a unique twist on a classic recipe, this tart is bound to impress!
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a small bowl, combine the flaxseed meal and water. Stir well and let sit for about 5 minutes to thicken. This will act as a flax egg.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, and salt.
Add the solid coconut oil and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix the coconut oil into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Add the thickened flaxseed mixture and almond extract to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch (23 cm) tart pan. Prick the base with a fork to prevent bubbling.
Place the crust in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly golden.
While the crust is baking, prepare the filling. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, almond milk, and almond extract.
Bring to a simmer and cook until the sugar is fully dissolved. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
Once the crust is pre-baked, remove it from the oven and pour the filling over the crust.
Sprinkle the top of the filling with almond slices.
Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the filling is set and the almond slices are toasted.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
Once cool, remove the tart from the pan and slice to serve. Enjoy your dairy-free almond tart!
