📝 Instructions

9 steps
1

Lightly grease the bottom and sides of a crockpot (approximately 4-6 quart size) with non-stick cooking spray or butter.

2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, 3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3

Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until a smooth batter forms.

4

Spread the batter evenly across the bottom of the prepared crockpot.

5

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder (for topping). Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the crockpot.

6

Pour the hot water over the top of the batter and topping mixture. Do not stir.

7

Cover the crockpot with its lid and cook on HIGH for 2 hours, or until the cake has set on top and the edges start to pull away from the sides of the crockpot.

8

Carefully remove the lid (it will be hot and there will be steam). Allow the cake to cool in the crockpot for about 10 minutes before serving.

9

Scoop the cake into bowls, making sure to spoon some of the hot fudge sauce from the bottom over each serving. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
