📝 Instructions

9 steps
1

Prepare your cornbread and white or wheat bread in advance. Slice both into bite-sized cubes and allow them to sit out overnight to dry, or toast them lightly in the oven at 250°F (120°C) until crisp.

2

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and celery, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened and fragrant. Remove the skillet from heat and set aside.

3

Grease the inside of your crock pot with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.

4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornbread cubes, bread cubes, sautéed onions and celery, parsley, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Toss gently to evenly distribute the ingredients.

5

In a separate bowl or large measuring cup, whisk together the chicken or vegetable broth and beaten eggs until well mixed.

6

Pour the broth and egg mixture over the bread mixture in the large bowl. Gently stir until all ingredients are moistened but not soggy. The consistency should be slightly damp and able to hold together when pressed.

7

Transfer the stuffing mixture to the greased crock pot, spreading it out evenly.

8

Cover the crock pot with its lid and cook on LOW for 4 hours or until the stuffing is tender and cooked through. Avoid removing the lid frequently as this releases heat and moisture.

9

Once cooked, fluff the stuffing with a fork to release trapped steam and serve warm.
