Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a rack in the center of the oven.
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This helps achieve crispy skin.
Season the chicken generously inside and out with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Drizzle the olive oil over the chicken, using your hands to rub it evenly over the skin.
Cut the lemon in half and place both halves inside the cavity of the chicken along with the fresh rosemary, fresh thyme, and 4 garlic cloves (leave them whole and slightly smashed).
