📝 Instructions

12 steps
1

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

2

In a rice cooker or a pot, combine the rinsed rice and 400ml of water. If using a pot, bring to a boil, then lower the heat, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.

3

While the rice is cooking, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl. Stir until dissolved.

4

Once the rice is cooked, transfer it into a wooden or plastic sushi bowl. Add the vinegar mixture evenly and gently mix with a rice paddle, being careful not to mash the rice. Allow it to cool slightly.

5

In a mixing bowl, combine cooked crab meat, mayonnaise, soy sauce, and wasabi if using. Stir until well mixed.

6

Cut nori sheets into strips about 3 cm wide.

7

Wet your hands with water to prevent rice from sticking. Take about 1/6 of the rice and mold it into a flat, oval shape.

8

Place a spoonful of the crab mixture on top of the rice, then cover with another small portion of rice. Mold it into a ball or triangular shape, ensuring the crab filling is sealed inside.

9

Wrap a strip of nori around the onigiri, leaving some nori protruding at the top.

10

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the onigiri for added flavor and texture.

11

Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients.

12

Serve immediately or store in a sealed container until ready to eat.
