📝 Instructions

6 steps
1

In a small bowl, dissolve the instant coffee or espresso powder in 2 teaspoons of hot water. Stir until fully combined and set aside to cool.

2

In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter with a hand mixer or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment on medium speed until it is light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

3

Gradually add the powdered sugar, about 1/2 cup at a time, beating on low speed to incorporate each addition. Once all the powdered sugar is added, increase the speed to medium-high and beat for another 2-3 minutes.

4

Add the dissolved coffee mixture, vanilla extract, heavy cream (or milk), and a pinch of salt to the frosting. Beat on medium speed until all the ingredients are fully incorporated and the frosting is smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.

5

If the frosting is too thick, add an additional teaspoon of heavy cream (or milk) at a time until the desired consistency is reached. If it is too thin, add a little more powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time.

6

Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Bring to room temperature and re-whip before using if chilled.
