📝 Instructions

10 steps
1

Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add sliced onions and fry until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.

2

Add ginger and garlic paste to the onions and sauté for another 2 minutes until the raw smell goes away.

3

Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and oil begins to separate, about 5-7 minutes.

4

Stir in the red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.

5

Add the chicken pieces to the pan and cook on high heat for about 5-8 minutes until the chicken is sealed and starts to brown slightly.

6

Lower the heat to medium and add the yogurt, stirring to combine well with the spices and chicken. Cook for another 5 minutes.

7

Add water to the pan, stir, and cover the pan. Let the chicken simmer on low heat for about 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and tender.

8

Check and adjust seasoning if needed. Sprinkle garam masala and cumin seeds over the chicken salan, mix well.

9

Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro and sliced green chilies.

10

Serve hot with basmati rice or naan bread.
