📝 Instructions

12 steps
1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

2

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring gently until the sugar dissolves completely.

3

Stop stirring and let the mixture boil until it turns a deep amber color, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat immediately to avoid burning.

4

Carefully pour the caramel into the bottom of an 8-inch round baking dish, swirling to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

5

Peel the bananas and mash them into a smooth puree using a fork or food processor.

6

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, regular milk, mashed bananas, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.

7

Pour the banana custard mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish.

8

Place the baking dish into a larger roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish, creating a water bath.

9

Carefully transfer the roasting pan with the flan to the oven and bake for 60 minutes, or until the flan is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

10

Remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to fully set.

11

To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it. Place a serving plate upside down over the baking dish and flip to release the flan onto the plate. The caramel will flow over the top as a sauce.

12

Slice and enjoy your delicious banana flan!
